Britain dropped part of the charges against Friedman in the course of the investigation – FT

Britain has dropped two of the three original charges against sanctioned Russian oligarch Mikhail Fridman four months after his arrest.

It is reported Financial Times citing own sources.

The National Crime Agency (NCA) dropped an investigation into Friedman on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud the Home Office and conspiracy to commit perjury. According to the interlocutors of the publication, the agency is still investigating suspicion of money laundering against Friedman.

According to one of the interlocutors, the parties are also arguing about the search warrant.

A spokesman for the NCA confirmed that the agency was no longer investigating the case against a “wealthy 58-year-old Russian man” detained during searches at his London home in December, but did not name Friedman.

The oligarch’s arrest was widely reported in December, but the agency declined to comment on the arrest warrant.

The charges dropped by the Agency against Friedman related to evidence Friedman provided in support of his girlfriend’s immigration application to Britain.
