Great Britain has expanded sanctions against Belarus, the new package is aimed at limiting exports from Russia’s ally and suppressing Russia’s circumvention of Western sanctions.

About this informs website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Great Britain.

The new package of sanctions bans imports of gold, cement, timber and rubber, which are sources of income for Lukashenka’s regime, building on measures introduced last July to ban the import and export of around £60 million worth of goods.

“We are also blocking the export to Belarus from Great Britain of banknotes and equipment, as well as goods, technologies and materials that can be used for the production of chemical and biological weapons,” the message reads.

Also, the new measures of the government of the United Kingdom make it possible to prevent Belarusian media companies from spreading propaganda in Great Britain.

Social media companies and Internet service providers will restrict access to the websites of Belarusian media that have been sanctioned, as is already the case with Russian propaganda organizations.

Other measures in this package are aimed at cracking down on those who help Russia circumvent sanctions.

More than 100 individuals and organizations that supported repression in Belarus will also be sanctioned.
