Bulgaria wants to postpone the rejection of Russian oil for a year

Deputies of the economic committee of the Bulgarian parliament decided that the law on the refusal of Russian oil will be implemented gradually, starting from October 1, 2024, and not in a 30-day period.

About this informs Bulgarian National Radio.

Two weeks ago, the economic committee in the first reading adopted a bill that provided for the refusal of Russian oil within 30 days.

However, speaking before the commission, Minister of Economy Bohdan Bohdanov said that the introduction of a ban on the import of Russian oil for the 30-day period provided for so far will lead to a jump in fuel prices.

“A realistic time frame to reverse the retreat is 12 months, or October 1, 2024. With a 30-day window, the risks are high. I can’t predict exactly what the prices will be, but they will rise significantly, and there will be opportunities for speculation and maybe , even a shortage of fuel,” the minister said.

The corresponding decision is part of the second reading of the bill, which proposes to our country to cancel the retreat, but the final decision will be taken at the plenary session.
