C “Yandex Maps” has lost the name of the Aegean Sea

The name of the Aegean Sea has disappeared from the “Yandex. Maps” service. The “Yandex” company explained this as a technical error, which has already been corrected, however, as a number of mass media draw attention, the name did not appear on the map until Monday evening.
The publication “Meduza” notes that the name Gaylord, which is used by two American cities, and the name of the Greek island of Lesbos, which is located just in the northeastern part of the Aegean Sea, are displayed on the “Yandex. Maps” service.
- In Russia, there is a law prohibiting the so-called LGBT propaganda – signed by Vladimir Putin in December 2022. Since 2013, such “propaganda” among minors has been banned in the country, but now the ban extends to all Russians. In fact, the law introduced a taboo on the discussion of homosexuality and transgenderism in any other than negative context.
