The Chechen armed unit “Akhmat” received new vehicles to participate in the war against Ukraine – among them eight Chinese-made ShaanXi Tiger 4×4 armored personnel carriers. Before that, China repeatedly denied military supplies to Russia.
A video with new technology appeared on the Telegram channel of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, on June 7. He and his entourage drove one of the armored personnel carriers and declared that it was “the best machine” that “not a single bullet can catch.” The same armored vehicle is in the catalog of the manufacturer, company Shaanxi Baoji Special Vehicles Manufacturing. It is located in the city of Baoji in the Chinese province of Shaanxi.
Foreign sources have repeatedly reported that China supplies Russia with various equipment and components to participate in the war against Ukraine.
In March of this year, the CNN channel reported on the basis of customs records that after the invasion, Chinese state-owned enterprises of the defense complex continued to maintain active trade relations with Russian defense companies that were subject to Western sanctions. The publication Politico wrote that Chinese companies delivered to Russia a thousand assault rifles that can be used for war, as well as other equipment, including parts for drones and bulletproof vests. In May, the Financial Times reported that PMC “Wagner” purchased 20,000 protective helmets in China at the end of last year through an intermediary company.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that China provides Russia with non-lethal military assistance, and also considers the possibility of supplying weapons.
At the same time, China has repeatedly asserted that the country adheres to neutrality and does not sell weapons to conflict zones. In particular, in April, the head of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Qin Gang, said that China does not supply and will not supply weapons to Russia or Ukraine.
