Russians starting at the age of 18 will be able to enter into contracts for military service immediately after being drafted into the army. This provision is contained in the draft law adopted on April 11, which regulates electronic subpoenas and sanctions for non-appearance. Previously, in order to conclude an army contract, it was required to serve at least three months of conscription.
Attention to the amendment chose Russian Service of the BBC. It is on page 43 of the draft law and amends Article 34 of the federal law “On military duty and military service”.
As The Bell clarifies, the law on contract service from the age of 18 was passed last May, but de facto it was impossible: first you had to either graduate from a technical school or university, or serve three months as a conscript. Now, military personnel who have only general education – that is, yesterday’s schoolchildren – will be able to conclude a contract immediately after being called up.
- Amendments to the new rules of summons and delivery of summons were approved in the third reading by the State Duma on April 11, and by the Federation Council on April 12. They add new ways of notifying conscripts – by registered letter, in electronic form through the “Gosuslugy” portal and through the MFC. Also, in Russia, a single register of conscripts is being formed.
- For those who do not appear at the military enlistment office, there are restrictions, including a ban on traveling abroad, and the ban will come into effect from the day the summons is considered served.
