Gerard Depardieu was accused of unacceptable sexual behavior

French actor Gerard Depardieu was accused of inappropriate sexual behavior on the set between 2004 and 2022. The testimonies of 13 women were published by the French publication Mediapart.

The publication describes numerous cases of groping, obscene comments and inappropriate actions on the part of Depardieu in relation to young actresses, make-up artists and technical staff. Journalists contacted 20 producers and directors with whom Depardieu worked, but only 11 responded. All of them, except the director of the films “Disco” and “Leaps” Fabien Onteniente, said that they had not seen or heard anything unpleasant about the actor’s behavior.

Onteniente told reporters that the casting director on the set of “Disco” warned him about Depardieu’s behavior. The director also heard similar accusations during the filming of the film “Racing”. “I told him: Don’t start it again, it’s over! Behave yourself,” Onteniente told the publication.

Depardieu declined to comment on the allegations, but through his law firm, Cabinet Temime, denies any wrongdoing. The firm said that some of the statements in Mediapart’s publication are based on “highly subjective assessments and/or moral judgments.”

• In 2018, actress Charlotte Arnold filed official rape charges against Depardieu. In 2019, the investigation into the case was terminated due to lack of evidence. However, in 2021, information appeared in the mass media that the French actor was still charged. His defense insists that the accusation of rape does not correspond to reality and the actor is absolutely innocent.
• In 2005, Depardieu beat a paparazzi who tried to take his picture. In 2011, he was removed from a flight from Paris to Dublin for going to the toilet right in the aisle between the seats. The following year, he hit a motorist after an accident and received Russian citizenship after a tax conflict with France.
