Concerts “DDT”, “Time Machines” and “Mummy Troll” canceled in Rostov-on-Don

In Rostov-on-Don, the summer concerts of the rock groups “Time Machine”, “DDT” and “Mumiy Troll” have been cancelled. The city administration stated that the leader of “Time Machine” Andrey Makarevich can have a “negative influence” on the citizens. The musicians of these groups expressed their condemnation of Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Earlier, in the Telegram channel of the governor of the Rostov region, Vasily Golubev, messages appeared from users demanding that he would not allow Time Machine concerts. Users pointed out that Andrey Makarevich was recognized by the Ministry of Justice of Russia as a “foreign agent”, and his speech was unacceptable.

The administration of Rostov-on-Don reported that it had held negotiations with the organizers of the concerts. After that, the Rostov Roof Live concert venue announced the cancellation of the performance. Ticket sales for them have been stopped.

The leader of “Time Machine” Andrey Makarevich was included in the list of foreign agents in November last year. In 2022, the leader of the “DDT” group, Yury Shevchuk, was fined 50,000 rubles for discrediting the Russian army. The musician consistently takes a pacifist position and speaks out against any wars. The musicians of “Mummy Troll” also spoke out for an immediate end to the war.

• After the start of the war in Russia, concerts of performers who opposed the invasion and theater performances with the participation of actors who declared their anti-war position were repeatedly canceled or postponed indefinitely. Many artists left the country, some were included by the Ministry of Justice of Russia in the list of foreign agents.
• On July 7, 2022, the publication “Fontank” published a list of Russian musicians whose performances the authorities consider undesirable in Russia due to their anti-war stance. Among them are the groups DDT, “Casta”, “Bi-2”, “Nogu svelo”, Anacondaz, IC3PEAK, “Krovostok”, Little Big, singers Zemfira, Monetochka, Grechka, Manizha, Louna, Dora, rappers Oxxxymiron, Face, Morgenstern , Legalize and other artists.
