Dozens of NGOs terminated their contracts with the Nuzhna pomoško fund

Sixty-three non-profit organizations that cooperated with the “Nuzhna pomoško” charitable foundation terminated their contracts with it after declaring it a “foreign agent”, another twenty-six asked to temporarily suspend cooperation.

Earlier, the possibility to make money transfers to the Nuzhna pomoško charity fund was disabled by the Tinkoff bank.

At the same time, the fund emphasizes that money transfers to him from Russia are “absolutely legal”, continue to be accepted and carry “only minimal risks” for donors.

The “Necessary Help” charitable foundation was recognized as a “foreign agent” on March 1. The organization provides financial support to dozens of other charitable foundations operating in Russia. “We will do everything so that they continue to help. There are 787 funds in our ecosystem – the lives of people and animals are behind them,” Vyorstka quoted representatives of Nuzhna pomość.

• The Russian authorities can declare anyone who is under “foreign influence” to be a “foreign agent”, the definition of which is very vague in the law. Now there are more than 570 “foreign agents” in the register: individuals, mass media, NGOs and social movements.
• At the end of February, the State Duma passed a law prohibiting Russian citizens and companies from placing advertisements on the resources of “foreign agents”. The Speaker of the Parliament Vyacheslav Volodin declared the goal of the law “to deprive “foreign agents” of all sources of income in Russia.” After that, a number of independent public and journalistic projects reported forced suspension of work.
