Due to the lack of equipment in Russia, problems with the mobile Internet began

In the regions of Russia, the lack of equipment for cellular networks began to affect the speed of mobile Internet – in a year, the indicator decreased from 20 Mbit/s to 18.7 Mbit/s.

About this informs the Russian publication “Izvestia” with reference to data from the TelecomDaily agency.

At the same time, the speed in Moscow increased by more than 20% to 63 Mbit/s (in 2022, the figure was 51 Mbit/s).

“The increase in speed in Moscow is explained by the fact that the main investment flows of operators are directed to the capital. This is the largest market in the country and competition forces us to constantly improve the quality of communication,” explained TelecomDaily CEO Denys Kuskov.

The remaining regions of the Russian Federation are provided with equipment according to the residual principle. Operators are trying to maintain the quality of communication in them by expanding the range at the expense of 4G frequencies intended for other radio technologies, explained Kuskov.

Problems with mobile Internet begin already in the Moscow region.

An employee of the partner company of several mobile operators said that the decrease in Internet speed in the regions is due to the fact that the constant growth of mobile Internet traffic is superimposed on the shortage of equipment.
