On Thursday, April 20, security workers at three German airports went on strike, leading to the cancellation of 700 flights.

The strike was initiated by the Ver.di trade union and affected the airports of Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Cologne/Bonn. On Friday, employees of the security service at the Stuttgart airport will join the strike.
According to the German airport association ADV, the strike will affect at least 100,000 passengers.
Ver.di demands increased allowances for night, weekend and public holiday work.
In addition, German rail workers’ union EVG has called for a nationwide strike on Friday, which will last from 3 to 11 a.m. local time.
The EVG union is seeking a 12% wage increase, or at least an additional €650 per month.
