President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi reported on Tuesday evening about the Russian attack on the Kherson railway station, where the evacuation train was standing.
“All services are now in place, the number of dead and injured is being determined. There were many civilians on the spot,” Zelensky said in an evening address. He added that the relevant services are informing him about the consequences of the attack.
The company “Ukrainskaya zheleznaya doroga” stated that as a result of shelling in Kherson, the station and railway rolling stock were damaged. “At present, several injured workers are known. Passengers are in shelter,” the carrier noted. The company added that it expects the situation in the station area to stabilize in order to transfer passengers to buses to Nikolaev, where reserve cars are being prepared.
The head of the Kherson region, Alexander Prokudin, reported on shelling of the region by the Russian army throughout the day. It is known about three dead and several wounded.
Throughout the war, Russia has denied deliberate strikes on civilian objects in Ukraine.
