Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the USA for the $250 million aid package

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday thanked the United States for allocating another $250 million military aid package to Kyiv.

“During this year, the United States provided 34 packages of military aid worth more than 24 billion dollars… We will always be grateful for this support,” Zelensky commented on the decision in social networks X.

On Wednesday, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced that this would be the last aid package this year, the Voice of America notes.

US President Joe Biden earlier this year asked Congress to allocate another $61 billion to help Ukraine, but the Republicans refuse to approve the request without an agreement with the Democrats on strengthening security on the US-Mexico border.

Earlier, the White House warned that without additional allocated American aid to Kyiv, it would end by the end of the year.

According to Secretary of State Blinken, the latest aid package includes ammunition for air defense, additional ammunition for highly mobile artillery missile systems HIMARS, artillery ammunition, anti-tank ammunition and more than 15 million cartridges.

According to Volodymyr Zelenskyi, these supplies will satisfy “Ukraine’s most pressing needs.”

  • Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Congress has approved the allocation of more than $110 billion to Ukraine, but has not approved a single amount since the Republicans won the majority in the House of Representatives in January 2023.
