Students of the Institute of Cinema and Television in St. Petersburg are forced to go to the festival about the war in Ukraine “Cinema in the Service of the Fatherland”. This was reported by “Bumaga” with reference to the students.

According to the publication, a message from the organizers appeared in the student chat, in which the attendance of the festival was called mandatory, and only illness or a work shift could be valid reasons for its absence.

“When you attend this event and prove your participation from start to finish, premium points are added to your portfolio,” the message said.

According to a student chat participant, most students ignored the message about the festival. Some agreed to go “so that there would be no questions.”

The “Cinema in the Service of the Fatherland” festival was organized by the Committee of Families of Soldiers of the Fatherland with funds from the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives and the Ministry of Culture. The festival will last from May 12 to 14. Its organizer is director Olesya Shigina, who in 2022 participated in the meeting of mothers of war participants with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
