The appeals court in Novosibirsk changed the measure of restraint for the former prefect of the Northern District of Moscow and the former deputy head of Rosprirodnadzor Oleg Mitvol to house arrest. He will leave at his place of residence in Krasnoyarsk.
Since the summer of last year, Mitvol has been in a pre-trial detention center on suspicion of embezzling 900 million rubles during the construction of the Krasnoyarsk metro. He admitted his guilt.
Oleg Mytvol participated in the State Duma elections in 2016 as the leader of the “Green” party. At the time of his arrest, he held the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Krasnoyarsk Trust of Engineering and Construction Research.
After his arrest, Mytvol entered into a pre-trial agreement with the investigation and undertook to compensate the loss caused to the budget. Two influential deputies of the State Duma from United Russia signed sureties for him.
Construction of the metro in Krasnoyarsk began back in October 1995, but was repeatedly suspended due to financing problems. In 2019, 950 million rubles were allocated from the federal budget as part of the national project “Ecology” for the development of project documentation – according to the investigation, all this money was stolen.
