Billionaire and co-founder of Alfa Group Mikhail Fridman has moved from Great Britain to Israel, a source close to the businessman told RBC.

“Alfa Group” also confirmed the information to the publication, adding that the businessman is now in Moscow and now plans to visit Russia regularly.

Later, in a conversation with the Bloomberg agency, Friedman said that he moved to Israel a week ago, but against the background of military operations after the attack on the country by the radical Hamas group, he flew to Moscow. “When everything settles down, I plan to return to Israel and live there permanently,” the businessman said.

Mikhail Fridman is a native of Lviv, a citizen of Israel and Russia. The businessman has been under sanctions by the EU, Great Britain and the United States since the beginning of Russia’s war with Ukraine.

Friedman lived in Great Britain and after the introduction of restrictions complained that his accounts were frozen and he did not know how to pay for house cleaning. The British Crime Agency conducted a sanctions evasion investigation against Friedman, but it has already been terminated.

The businessman tried to get out of the sanctions. The Wall Street Journal wrote that Friedman offered to transfer a billion dollars to Alfa-Bank Ukraine in order to lift British sanctions.

In August, the Ukrainian police accused Fridman of taking 19 million dollars offshore. The Ukrainian authorities nationalized Sense Bank, which belonged to a businessman.

In September, the Security Service of Ukraine accused Fridman of financing the Russian armed invasion and helping the Russian army. In October, Ukraine seized the assets of the shareholders of “Alfa Group” — Mikhail Fridman, Petr Aven and Andrey Kosogov — in the amount of 460 million dollars.
