Great Britain expanded sanctions. “Arctic LNG-2” is included in the list

Great Britain expanded sanctions against Moscow. Dozens of Russian companies and individuals fell under the restrictions. The sanctions list also includes two Belarusian companies and companies from China, Turkey and the UAE, which allegedly contributed to the circumvention of sanctions.

The British government clarifies that the list includes ammunition and electronics manufacturers, as well as diamond and oil traders.

One of the largest companies included in the updated list is the Arctic LNG-2 liquefied gas production project of Novatek. Sanctions have also been imposed against the CEO Oleg Karpushyn.

Pavel Marynychev, the new general director of ALROSA, was also included in the restrictive list.

In addition, sanctions were imposed against the Perm Gunpowder Plant, the Kamensk-Ural Metallurgical Plant, the Hydromash Company, the Baltic Industrial Company, the Samara Metallurgical Plant, the Chelyabinsk Forge and Press Plant, and the so-called Redut PMC.

The sanctions are timed to the second anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The USA and the European Union are expected to publish their expanded sanctions lists in the coming days.

At the same time, Western countries accuse Russia of circumventing sanctions through third countries, for example, Turkey, the states of Central Asia, and others.

In particular, the media recently reported that Armenia has become one of the largest “hubs” for circumventing sanctions for Moscow. According to official data, the export of goods from Armenia to Russia increased by 85%, of which 80% is re-export. Financiers pay attentionthat in total, Armenia’s exports to Russia increased by 430% compared to the pre-war period due to the probable re-export of European and Chinese goods.

Investigative journalists also reported that Russia still purchases weapons from Italy through an intermediary firm in Turkey. The Bloomberg agency found out that last year Moscow was able to import American chips through China, Turkey and the Arab Emirates.
