[ad_1]
The radical Hamas group announced the release of two hostages it held in the Gaza Strip after the attack on Israel on October 7. Presumably, we are talking about a mother and daughter – Yudit and Natalie Raanan, 59 and 18 years old, respectively. Both of them, in addition to Israeli citizenship, also have American citizenship. It is reported that Qatar acted as a mediator in the negotiations for their release.
There is no official confirmation about the release of the hostages yet, but the Israeli media reports that they were handed over to the Egyptian authorities across the border with the Gaza Strip.
It is also claimed that the women were released “for humanitarian reasons” without any conditions.
- According to recent data, Hamas has taken more than 200 people hostage, including more than 20 children, the youngest of whom is 9 months old. More than 1,400 people have been victims of extremist attacks in Israel since October 7.
- In the Gaza Strip, according to Hamas-controlled officials, more than 4,000 people have died since October 7 during the armed conflict.
