Russian students in a course on Russian statehood plan to be told that Western countries want to achieve “physical immortality” and impose a “cult of death” through veganism and vegetarianism, euthanasia and abortion. None of this is prohibited in Russia (yet). The textbook for the course was studied by “Vyorstka”.
The course “Basic Russian Statehood” will be available in liberal arts universities from September. Its purpose is the same as that of patriotic lessons in schools – “the formation of Russian civic identity and patriotism in students.”
In particular, the textbook states that the goal of the new values promoted by the West is to “achieve the physical immortality of people through the gradual transformation of a natural person into a bioobject devoid of individual physical and sexual characteristics, spiritual and moral qualities.”
The authors of the manual claim that for the sake of this “ultraliberal ideologues” impose a “cult of death” through abortions, euthanasia and veganism. This ideology is proposed to be opposed to the so-called “traditional values” — faith (spirituality), statehood, dignity, unified history, knowledge, culture, personality, peace, democracy, national traditions, justice (truth).
The manual also states that the “ideology of unrestrained consumption”, “hedonistic values” and the slogan “take everything from life” are imposed on Russian youth.
Politics and history in the textbook are rethought from the point of view of confrontation with the West, the publication notes. Thus, the authors criticize Peter I for the “naked worship of everything Western, non-Russian” that began under him. The authors compare Vladimir Putin with Joseph Stalin, calling them both politicians “under whom the country was strong and respected in the international arena.”
At the end of January, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, instructed the Ministry of Education and Science to develop the program of the course “Basic Russian Statehood” and include it in university programs. The “DNA of Russia” project is developing a new subject with the participation of the presidential administration and the Ministry of Education and Science.
It is planned that the course will consist of five parts: “What is Russia”, “Russian state-civilization”, “Russian worldview and values of Russian civilization”, “Political structure of Russia” and “Challenges of the future and development of the country”.
- Soon after the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, the Russian authorities began to make various changes to the education system with the aim of “patriotic education” of students and schoolchildren. Obligatory classroom hours “Talks about important” have been introduced in schools. In universities, teachers were forced to give propaganda lectures.
