The Balkan countries signed a declaration in support of Ukraine

10 countries of the Balkans and regions close to the Balkans signed a declaration of support for Ukraine. The signing took place in Athens, where the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, is on a visit. The states support the “peace formula” proposed by Zelensky, which provides for the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine.
The declaration was signed by the heads of Serbia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Bulgaria and Croatia, as well as Greece. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the Head of the EU Council, Charles Michel, were present at the signing.
The states confirm their “support and recognition of the serious efforts of the President of Ukraine” to establish the principles of a possible peace in accordance with the UN Charter.
- Volodymyr Zelensky is on a visit to Greece since August 21. On Monday, he held talks with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. At the end of the meeting, he reported that an agreement had been reached on the upcoming training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16 type fighters, which Denmark and the Netherlands intend to hand over to Ukraine.
