On Sunday evening, a Russian serviceman detonated a grenade at a residential building in Budyonnovsk, Stavoropol Krai. As a result, four local residents received shrapnel wounds, the Astra Telegram channel reports. The soldier himself fled from the scene of the explosion.

Journalists call the serviceman’s name Artyom Mylokhov, a 27-year-old serviceman of the 487th helicopter regiment. Local residents claim that the police searched for him all night, and on Monday morning he was detained. There are no official confirmed arrests yet. It is still unknown where the helicopter pilot took the ammunition and why he blew it up.

  • Shortly after the start of Russia’s full-scale armed invasion of Ukraine, cases of crimes involving the use of weapons among servicemen returning from the war zone became more frequent. They bring with them weapons and ammunition stolen from their own military units or found on the battlefield.
  • According to official data of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia at the end of April 2023, the number of such criminals increased by almost 30% in an hour. Belgorod and Kursk regions bordering Ukraine became the leaders in this indicator.
