On the morning of January 11, a fire broke out on the territory of a military unit in the Chechen city of Shaly – the headquarters building and several cars parked nearby were completely burned down. A source familiar with the situation told about this site Kavkaz.Realii on condition of anonymity.

The interlocutor mentioned that the fire at the headquarters was not the first time, and the headquarters itself is located in a dilapidated building.

Earlier, the video recording with the fire was published by the Telegram channel “Sorokin Khvost”. The footage shows that the fire completely destroyed the two-story building.

Officially, Chechnya does not comment on the information about the fire. The calls of the Kavkaz.Realii website correspondent were not answered in the military unit.

Units of the 70th Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment and the 42nd Guards Division are located in Shaly. In May, the military from this unit refused to participate in the war against Ukraine and demanded that the command return them to Russia.

  • The names of at least six soldiers who served in Shaly and were killed in the war against Ukraine are known. In total, since the beginning of the invasion, almost six thousand natives of the south of Russia and the North Caucasus appear in this list of the dead. The Russian authorities do not officially comment on the number of casualties.
