Two servicemen from Krasnoyarsk received 5 years in a settlement colony for arbitrarily leaving the unit. This is reported by the Sibir.Realii project with reference to the Krasnoyarsk Garrison Court.

According to the court, in April 2023, private Denis Semenov left a military unit in one of the southern regions of Russia. The serviceman was dissatisfied with the command. Through Rostov-on-Don and Sochi, he moved to Krasnoyarsk, where he spent more than a month. In May, he himself appeared at the military commandant’s office.

Corporal Denys Forot, who also served in southern Russia, received a similar term. In March, he left the unit to rest and spend time with his family. In May, Forot appeared at the military commissariat.

“NGS” publication reports that in 2023, 27 sentences were handed down in Krasnoyarsk for the arbitrary abandonment of a unit. There were three such cases in 2022, nine in 2021, and five in 2020.

Earlier, Sibir.Realii reported that in the 11 months since the beginning of the mobilization, more than 2,900 cases have been filed in Russian military courts against contract workers and those mobilized under the articles of voluntary desertion, failure to comply with orders, desertion, and other crimes. The number of such cases is growing every month, which may indicate the reluctance of the military and mobilized to take part in hostilities in Ukraine.
