The Investigative Committee charged the detained 28-year-old Muscovite, who followed the family of military correspondent Aleksandr Kots, on the violation of privacy.

According to the investigators, the accused collected information about the journalist for a reward and from November 4 to 7 followed Kots’s house. In addition, the Muscovite tried to get information about his professional activities from the wife of the military commander, according to the report of the Investigative Committee.

The detainee admitted his guilt. Investigators will request an arrest. The accused faces up to two years in prison.

It became known about the detention of the Muscovite yesterday. At first, he was suspected of obstructing the journalist’s professional activity due to the desire to put pressure on Kots’s wife. Punishment under this article provides correctional work for up to one year.

The Investigative Committee does not name the accused. According to Mash telegram channel, his name is Leonid Gutarov.

Alexander Kots said that he is in the war zone and suggested that the surveillance may be connected both “with the Ukrainian theme” and “with the mental balance of the detainee”.

Kots previously wrote in a telegram that you can find his home address on the Ukrainian site “Mirotvorets”. According to the military commander, earlier he and his family received threats, most often from phones with Ukrainian numbers.
