The deputy of the Perm City Duma, Sergey Medvedev, who spoke out against the war in Ukraine and left Russia, was left with a mandate. This was reported by the human rights project “OVD-Info” on Tuesday.

On December 31, Medvedev wrote on his closed page in VKontakte: “I am not a supporter of empty smiles and worthless congratulations. During war, only peace! Let the creature who unleashed the bloody slaughter die! Let the cruel punishment catch up with all those guilty of hundreds of thousands of lost lives! It’s scary to see what Russia has turned into. Deceived people, maddened by their malice, come to your senses! Russia, wake up! They’re killing you!”

After screenshots of the post spread in anonymous Telegram channels, law enforcement officials became interested in the politician. Later, Sergey Medvedev left Russia. In early January, he was expelled from the faction of the CPRF in the Gorduma and from the party itself, writes “OVD-Info”.

On January 22, Medvedev signed a statement submitted to the Central Election Commission by a group of Russian politicians demanding that Vladimir Putin be denied registration as a presidential candidate due to “numerous violations of the law.” Some of the signatories of the application represent the regions of the Middle Volga region, notes Idel.Realii.
