In Poland, it was admitted that the unexpected participation of the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyridenko in the “grain negotiations” could lead to a change in the already agreed text of the agreement on the terms of import and transit of Ukrainian agricultural products.
As European Truth reports, Polish radio station RMF FM learned about it from its own sources.
According to the report, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyridenko, is to arrive in Warsaw on Monday for negotiations on the grain crisis. According to the previous plan, the negotiations were initially to be conducted exclusively by the ministers of agriculture of both countries.
However, according to sources, the composition of the Ukrainian delegation was expanded at the last minute. Representatives of the Polish Ministry of Agriculture unofficially noted that the increase in the rank of the Ukrainian delegation is not the best signal in this context.
The officials assured that the preliminary text of the agreement on import conditions was agreed on at the weekend and it is almost ready. However, the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Svyridenko may mean that the entire document will have to be written almost from scratch.
The RMF FM correspondent, citing sources, points to few signs that Monday’s meeting in Warsaw will be successful. According to him, the signing of an intergovernmental agreement that would redefine the rules for the transit of Ukrainian agricultural products through Poland could be a success.
Before leaving for Poland, the Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, Mykola Solskyi, said that the restoration of the transit of grain and other products through Poland is the “first step” for Ukraine in today’s negotiations.
We will remind, on Saturday the Polish government decided to ban the import of grain and other agricultural products from Ukraine until June 30 to protect the Polish agricultural sector.
The Hungarian government follows Poland temporarily banned imports from Ukraine grains and seeds of oil crops, as well as other agricultural products. At the same time, the transit of Ukrainian agricultural products through the territory of Hungary will continue.
On Sunday, the European Commission regarding the decision of Hungary and Poland declared the inadmissibility of unilateral actions in the field of tradefrom the EU member states.
