The court in Dalnerechensk, Primorsky Krai, sentenced Maksym Volkovy, who fought in Ukraine, to seven years in a high-security prison for murder. This follows from the court’s decision.

According to the testimony of the witness, after returning from the war in Ukraine, Volkova had been drinking with friends for five days before the murder. During an argument with one of the participants of the feast, Volkova hit him on the head with a stool no less than five times, then inflicted several more blows, including a bat, and also stabbed him twice in the buttocks area with a knife. As a result, the victim died “from profuse blood loss” due to multiple wounds to the face and head, according to the court ruling.

When passing the sentence, the court did not take into account Volkovy’s criminal record as an aggravating circumstance – in March 2022, he was sentenced to eight years in a strict regime prison in a murder case.

At the same time, the judge considered Volkovy’s participation in the invasion of Ukraine and the state awards he received as mitigating circumstances. According to NEWS.VL, Volkova Voeval is a member of PMC “Wagner”.

The court decided that the initiator of the conflict was the victim who, with his statements about the military operation in Ukraine, “strongly hurt the feelings” of Volkovy, who had returned from the war, according to the ruling.

  • In the summer of 2022, after several military defeats on the territory of Ukraine, the Russian army and private military companies began to recruit prisoners serving sentences, including those for committing serious crimes. At first, PMC “Wagner” was engaged in this, then – the Ministry of Defense. For participation in hostilities, a pardon is promised after six months of being on the front line. At the moment, it is already known about several dozen cases when the pardoned, returning from the war, again committed crimes, including murder and rape. The Kremlin believes that the prisoners rightly receive early release, as they “expense crimes with blood on the battlefield.”
