In Russia, the website of human rights activists and the article about Buche have been blocked

In Russia, the website of the international human rights organization Human Rights Without Frontiers and a number of materials about the war in Ukraine have been blocked. Access restrictions were revealed by the “Roskomsvoboda” project.

In particular, an article about the killing of civilians in the Ukrainian city of Bucha during the Russian occupation, published on the website of the largest Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat, was blocked. Also, the domain of the resource “Monument to Lurkomoryu”, where there is information about events in Ukraine, was subjected to “military censorship”, the activists of “Roskomsvoboda” note.

Access to the site Human Rights Without Frontiers is closed “by mask”, the block extends to all domains and subdomains. The organization published materials about events and the situation with human rights in Ukraine, Belarus and Russia.

In both cases, the state body by whose decision access to resources is limited is not indicated. Roskomnadzor deals with website blocking in Russia, decisions are made by the prosecutor’s office, courts or the supervisory authority itself.

After the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, hundreds of information resources were blocked. Among them are human rights organizations and mass media not controlled by the Russian authorities. Information about the war, which differs from that declared by the Ministry of Defense and propagandists, is equated to “fakes” and is subject to administrative and criminal penalties.
