In the city of Salavat in Bashkortostan, 60-year-old activist Alfinur Rahmatullina was detained on charges of participation in mass riots. This is reported by RusNews with reference to her daughter Laysan Ravilova.
Before the arrest, the apartment of Rakhmatullina and Ravilova was searched. Law enforcement officers behaved “aggressively and brazenly, without introducing themselves and threatening to open the door,” said the activist’s daughter.
According to her, after the search, Rakhmatullina was taken to an unknown destination, while the law enforcement officers did not provide copies of the search documents.
Earlier, four activists were detained and sent to a pre-trial detention center as part of a criminal case about mass riots, initiated after the actions in support of the convicted activist Fail Alsynov.
On January 17, the Baimak District Court of Bashkortostan sentenced the local activist, defender of Mount Kushtau, Fail Alsynov, to four years in a general regime colony on the charge of inciting hatred or enmity. He does not admit guilt.
Thousands of people gathered at the courthouse on the day the verdict was announced. They demanded the release of Alsynov. The police used tear gas and stun grenades, beat the demonstrators with batons. The next day, actions in support of Alsynov were held in Ufa.
According to local Telegram channels, more than 30 people were detained in Bashkortostan after the protests. Most of the detainees are charged with the administrative article of disobeying the police.
