In the Khabarovsk Territory, men are called up for military training en masse. Appear at the military commissariat on different dates in May, even those who did not serve in emergency service or underwent alternative service, those who have a “white ticket” and “armor” from mobilization, as well as some who are no longer alive, Siberia has learned Realities.
On March 1, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the call-up of Russians in the reserve for military training in 2024. The Khabarovsk Region’s military enlistment offices sent out lists of reservists to the villages, including almost the entire male population, except for minors and pensioners.
The first summonses to the military enlistment office were distributed to residents of rural settlements last week. Many addressees of such documents panic, believing that they will be sent to war under the guise of ordinary collections.
Subpoenas are delivered to homes by municipal employees. And in different villages, according to local residents, it happens in different ways. Somewhere they politely ask: “We offer you to undergo military retraining, do you want to take the summons?” – and, having received a refusal, they simply leave. In others, they ask to hand over the summons by force, threatening to come with the police next time. The addressees are assured that these are ordinary gatherings, and perhaps not everyone who received a request to report to the military enlistment office will pass them.
– We were given a list for all men, in general for all. And we remove from it those who are not suitable for various reasons: age, many children, and so on, – the representative of the administration of one of the rural settlements said on the condition of anonymity. – In the accompanying letter from the military enlistment office, it is written that people are not being taken for retraining, but for “determining the possibility of retraining.” And the duration of this retraining is not specified. That is, they are invited to the military enlistment office, there they will first look at them, who will be hired, who will not be hired, based on what tasks are set, what they need to be trained or retrained for. Of course, the times are such that people relate to such things with suspicion and anxiety, and they can be understood.
- On July 24, 2023, Vladimir Putin signed a law according to which the maximum reserve age for citizens with military ranks below that of officers is increased by five years. For conscripts of the first rank, the maximum reserve age has increased from 35 to 40 years, the second – from 45 to 50 years, and the third rank – from 50 to 55 years.
- Officially, the decree on the so-called partial mobilization continues to apply in Russia, and theoretically the call for mobilization can be renewed at any time. Representatives of the authorities assure that there will be no new mobilization, since a sufficient number of volunteers are joining the army.
- At the same time, sources, in particular, the “Verstka” edition, claim that the authorities are planning to start a mass recruitment to the army to strengthen the group fighting with Ukraine and the possible encirclement of Kharkov.
