In the Kursk region, six servicemen of the Russian army died as a result of a fire in a dugout. Another soldier was injured. This is reported by TASS with reference to the emergency services of the region. This information was confirmed by the Ministry of Defense, without specifying the number of victims.
It is reported that the ammunition stored in the dugout was detonated during the fire. According to the Ministry of Defense, the fire occurred due to a gross violation of safety rules when handling combustible materials.
Telegram channel Baza reports that the servicemen were conscripts. They were heating the furnace in the dugout and accidentally spilled gasoline there, after which an explosion and fire occurred.
In November of last year, the chairman of the State Duma defense committee, Andrey Kartapolov, said that conscript soldiers would not take part in hostilities in Ukraine, but could be sent to border regions, such as Belgorod and Kursk regions. Relatives of the soldiers say that conscripts often come under fire in these regions, and they ask to take them out of there.
