In the Gatchyn district of the Leningrad region, a power line support collapsed. According to Governor Alexander Drozdenko, the construction was undermined, quotes the publication “Fontanka”.
An unknown object was found on a nearby power line support. Drozdenko believes that this may be an explosive device.
It is known that the incident occurred after midnight on May 1. Residents of the Gatchyna district heard the explosion and saw the flash. Workers of the emergency services discovered the fallen power line support at dawn.
Explosive technicians and employees of the Federal Security Service are now working at the site of the alleged explosion. It is reported that the electricity supply of the region is not disturbed.
Last week, an explosion occurred in the city of Pavlovsk in the Pushkin district of St. Petersburg, in the area of an abandoned boiler house and an equestrian club. No one was hurt. The investigators came to the conclusion that an “undetected explosive device” had worked, and a criminal case was initiated.
