In the Orenburg region, 14 people were hospitalized due to the flood

In the Orenburg region, 14 people, including four children, are in hospitals as a result of the flood, Alexey Kuznetsov, assistant to the head of the Russian Ministry of Health, reported on Thursday.

According to Kuznetsov, a total of 259 people sought medical help in the region due to the flooding, and most of them were treated on an outpatient basis. As noted, additional drugs for the prevention of hepatitis and other infections have been delivered to the region, mobile brigades and stationary vaccination points continue to work, the Ministry of Health notes.

Also, according to the department, there are currently 19 medical facilities in the flooded zone.

Earlier on Thursday, the governor of the Orenburg region, Denys Pasler, reported that the damage caused by the flood in the region is estimated at more than 40 billion rubles. “It is clear that this is very preliminary, because the water has not receded yet and we have not fully started the inspection,” Pasler noted during a video call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Since April 4, the state of emergency at the regional level has been in effect in the Orenburg region due to the deterioration of the flood situation. On April 7, the government commission decided to classify the flood in the region as a federal emergency. The most serious situation persists in Orsk and Orenburg.

The Minister of Construction of Russia Irek Faizullin in a conversation with journalists on Thursday criticized the dam, which broke on April 5 and started the flooding of Orsk. “The dam that they are talking about in Orsk is not actually a dam, the dam is not worth a billion rubles…With great speed, a huge mass of water pressed not on the dam, but on the earthen embankment,” said the minister, whose words are quoted by state agencies .

By the morning of April 11, the level of the Ural River in Orsk dropped by 42 centimeters and amounted to 857 centimeters. According to the city authorities, almost six thousand houses were flooded. Water still continues to arrive in Orenburg. The water level there rose to 1,069 centimeters at the critical mark of 930 centimeters. More than two thousand houses were flooded, 1,258 people were evacuated from the flooded areas. In total, about 12,000 residential buildings were flooded in the region.
