In the Sverdlovsk region, a fire continues for the second day in the village of Sosva. More than 150 houses burned down. The regional Ministry of Emergencies reported that the body of one deceased person was found when sorting through the rubble.

The fire started the day before at the sawmill – a strong wind spread the fire to residential buildings. A state of emergency has been introduced on the territory of the municipality.

According to local residents, the center of Sosva was practically destroyed. A school, a hospital, and a colony in which prisoners with AIDS were kept burned down.

The information about the burnt colony was confirmed in the regional office of the FSIN. Due to the fire, 240 convicts were evacuated from correctional institution No. 23, the head of the department’s press service, Alexander Levchenko, said.

The Ministry of Emergencies confirmed that on April 26, 8 villages, including the village of Tayozhny, the village of Wysym, the villages of Pervouralsk and Baikalovo, were already affected by the fire. The fire is still not extinguished everywhere, fire brigades are working in the villages, volunteers from among the residents themselves, aviation – more than 10 tons of water have been dropped on the houses from above.

The day before, the website Sibir.Realii reported about a fire that began on the afternoon of April 25 in the Trans-Baikal village of Balyaga. The flames engulfed residential buildings, some residents were evacuated. Judging by the information of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the fire spread to residential houses from the territory of the abandoned furniture factory “Rassvet”.

The Investigative Committee of the region announced that a criminal case of negligence has been opened in connection with the fire in Balyaga.

In mid-March, a forest fire season was announced in Transbaikalia. Since the beginning of the year, 100 hectares of forest land have burned in the region. In 28 municipalities of Transbaikalia, a “special fire prevention regime” was introduced, and in ten forest districts of the region – a “fire season”.
