At the mine of “Zolotorudnay Kompany” Omchak in the Baley district of Transbaikalia, rock collapsed in the mine, two miners died under the rubble. This was reported by the press service of the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations. 18 people and five pieces of equipment were involved in the liquidation of the accident.
The dead turned out to be shift workers from the Irkutsk and Chelyabinsk regions, Vladimir Ushakov, head of the Baley district, told TASS. According to him, the “Omchak” company is going to help the families of the victims.
The Investigative Department of the SC of the Russian Federation for the Trans-Baikal Region initiated a criminal case under the article on the violation of industrial safety requirements of hazardous production facilities, which resulted in the death of two people due to carelessness. According to the investigation, the rock collapse occurred due to a violation of safety rules.
This is not the first collapse in the company’s mines: in December of last year, the roof of the mine collapsed. As a result, a 35-year-old employee of the enterprise died, three more workers managed to get out of the rubble on their own.
