On May 1, 2023, the period of preferential import of goods for the restoration of the energy infrastructure of Ukraine ended, and from today, duties and VAT will have to be paid when importing them. This is stated in the message of the customs office, Biznes.Censor writes.

“On May 1, 2023, the period of exemption of the import of certain goods from VAT and import duty, and in some cases from excise tax, will end. Consequently, VAT and import duty will be charged again,” the message states.
In particular, benefits are canceled for goods imported by enterprises or citizens and moved (forwarded) to the customs territory of Ukraine in international postal and express shipments:
- Electric generator installations and parts thereof;
- separate transformers, their parts, inverters;
- separate batteries, including separators for them;
- System for providing satellite access to the Internet (Starlink).
In addition, VAT and duty will be charged again when importing goods provided free of charge by the Energy Community for the purposes and repair of infrastructure.
Note that at the same time, the changes introduced by the government to the so-called “coronavirus” decree No. 1260, which exempted electric generator sets, transformers, batteries, and electrical equipment from paying VAT and duties, remain in effect.

In December 2022, the Verkhovna Rada adopted amendments to the Tax and Customs Codes, canceling duties and VAT on the import of generators, Starlink and other energy equipment until May 2023.
