Iran again promised to take revenge on Israel for the death of members of the IRGC

On Friday, the funerals of seven members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) who died as a result of an alleged Israeli airstrike on the territory of the Iranian embassy in Syria were held in Tehran.

As Reuters writes, state television showed demonstrators with photographs of the dead and posters with the inscriptions “Death to Israel” and “Death to America.” The authorities of Iran again promised to take revenge on Israel for the death of officers, including two generals of the IRGC.

“The decision on revenge has been made, and it will definitely be carried out,” said the former commander of the IRGC, General Mohsen Rezai.

The attack on the building of the consular department of the embassy was made on April 1. Among the dead are one of the key commanders of the Iranian special forces, Al-Quds forces, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zaheda, his deputy, Brigadier General Mohammad Hadi Rahimi, and five of his colleagues. In Iran, they were called military advisers in Syria.

The Ministry of Defense of Syria reported that Israeli planes struck from the Golan Heights. The head of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Hossein Amir Abdollahiyan, called the attack on the consular department a “violation of all possible international conventions.” Iran vowed to respond to this strike.

After this, the Israel Defense Forces suspended the furloughs of all servicemen of combat units and units, the country also called up reservists of air defense units. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that his country will harm “anyone who harms us or plans to harm us.” Israel did not comment on the attack on the consular section.
