ISIS claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack in Pakistan

The Islamic State (IS) terrorist group claimed responsibility for an explosion in Pakistan on Sunday that killed more than 50 people. As its functionaries stated, their goal was the fight against the radical group “Taliban” in Pakistan (“Tehrik-e-Taliban”). Earlier there were suggestions that Tehreek-e-Taliban was responsible for the terrorist attack at the rally of the Islamist party.

On Monday night, the IS-linked news agency Amaq published a photo of a suicide bomber who committed a terrorist attack. In the comment, the IS representative confirms that the terrorist acted at the behest of the group. International media refer to the agency’s publication.

The Pakistani branch of the “Islamic State” – the “Islamic State in the Province of Khorasan” (ISKP) – which has taken responsibility, is at war with the Afghan branch of the Taliban. ISKP believes that the Taliban do not strictly follow the requirements of Islam. IS has already admitted that it was behind several previous terrorist attacks in Afghanistan, during which state services, mosques and schools were attacked. Also, the IG declared that Pakistan does not strictly adhere to Islamic principles.

• The explosion occurred on July 30 at a rally of supporters of the Islamist party “Jamaat Ulema Islam” (JUI-F) in the suburbs of the city of Khar, in the Bajaur region, not far from the border with Afghanistan. In the past, this territory was considered the base of the Pakistani radical Islamist movement “Tehrik-e-Taliban”, which is closely related to the Afghan Taliban. 54 people died, more than 200 were wounded.
