Ivan Kudryashov, an activist from Tver, accused of preparing for the arson of the military enlistment office, announced a hunger strike in the pre-trial detention center, reports “Solidarity Zone” and OVD-info.

The activist refused to eat on June 8, but it became known about the hunger strike only on Wednesday. Kudryashov is seeking a meeting with the head of the institution, at which he wants to discuss the existing prohibitions in the pretrial detention center. In particular, they do not give him vegan food and do not give him parcels with vitamins, vegetable protein and books.

Kudryashov is accused of preparing for a terrorist act – according to the investigation, he was going to set fire to the military enlistment office as a sign of protest against mobilization. He was arrested on September 30 last year. According to Kudryashov, he signed the confession under torture, and bottles with incendiary mixture were thrown at him during his detention. The Investigative Committee of the Tver region refused to open a criminal case about torture.

Before his arrest, Kudryashov organized protests against the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, military enlistment centers and administrative buildings have been set on fire in various Russian cities. They were especially frequent after the announcement of mobilization in September last year. Since last autumn, such actions of the authorities began to qualify as acts of terrorism, several people have already been sentenced to long terms of imprisonment on charges of setting fire to military enlistment centers.
