Journalist Ivan Safronov was sent to a tuberculosis hospital

On September 12, journalist Ivan Safronov, convicted in the case of treason, was taken from colony No. 7 in the village of Areyskoe in the Krasnoyarsk region, where he was serving his sentence, to a transfer point. The prisoner was told that he would be transferred to colony No. 15 in Norilsk, but then he was sent to the regional tuberculosis hospital. This was reported by the journalist’s support group.

“In the hospital, Ivan’s blood was taken, an EKG and fluorography were done. He is absolutely healthy, but he is still waiting for distribution in the single ward of the reception department,” Safronov’s supporters wrote in a telegram.

On Tuesday, September 26, his family flew to the Krasnoyarsk Territory to meet the journalist. Relatives were refused a meeting, he explained that the prisoner was sent to a stage. It is not known when Safronov will be delivered to the Norilsk colony.

• Ivan Safronov is a former journalist published by “Kommersant” and “Vedomosti”, the author of a number of high-profile publications in the media about the Russian army, space and military industry. In the last few months before his arrest, he held the position of adviser to the head of Roscosmos, where he did not have access to state secrets.
