Kyiv announced the successes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Urozhany and near Bakhmut

Ukraine’s defense forces have returned a small area near Bakhmut under their control over the past week, Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Anna Malyar said.

She clarified that 3 square kilometers of territory were liberated. In total, 40 square kilometers have been liberated on the southern flank of the Bakhmut sector since June, when the Ukrainian counteroffensive began, Malyar added.

On Monday, she also announced the “definite success” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the village of Urozhanye in the Donetsk region. The Ukrainian military began its assault on August 8. “This week, fighting continued in the village of Urozhajnoe, there are certain successes,” Malyar said at the briefing. According to her, there are successes in the south and southeast of Staromayorskogo, near Urozhany, where the Armed Forces of Ukraine are entrenched in certain areas.

Last weekend there was information that the Russian army began to retreat from Urozhany. A fortified area of ​​Russian troops was located in this settlement on the banks of the Mokrye Yaly River. The messages appeared, in particular, in Russian pro-war blogs.

The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced on Saturday that it had repelled an attack on the village. There was no official information about the retreat.

The newspaper The New York Times wrote on August 13 that the Armed Forces of Ukraine achieved “tactically significant” progress in two main areas in the south of Ukraine. According to the publication, Ukrainian troops took control of 16 to 20 kilometers of territory in the direction of Berdyansk and Melitopol, which were seized by Russian troops, Meduza writes.
