Recently, the first forum on humanitarian demining was held in Kyiv, Demine Ukraine Forum. The purpose of the event was an open discussion on actions to speed up demining and the country’s plans.

The forum brought together representatives of the state bodies of Ukraine, embassies of donor countries, mine action operators, domestic manufacturers of equipment for surveying and demining, representatives of telecommunications and the agricultural sector.

“Humanitarian demining is more than just the disposal of mines or other explosive objects. It is about the possibility for people to return to their homes and be safe. About the recovery of the economy and the recovery of the country. Finally, about food security in the world.

Demining the territories is the zero stage of the recovery of our country and an important step for the return of a full-fledged life to the de-occupied lands,” said First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yuliya Svyridenko.

Our engineers enter the de-occupied settlements immediately after the armed forces, because it is very important for people who have been under occupation for a long time to get in touch with their loved ones. We understand the importance of demining for the restoration of infrastructure, that is why Kyivstar develops technological solutions to accelerate demining and initiates social initiatives designed to ensure the safety of deminers and increase the efficiency of their work.”

Kyivstar has launched a new commercial service for business – an RTK correction signal for accurate positioning in real time, which can be used in demining territories, in agriculture and logistics.

So far, 105 million hryvnias have been collected as part of the initiative. Thanks to the accumulated funds, 15 more engineer-mining groups have recently received help, and a total of 31 engineering-mining groups have already been equipped with the necessary equipment. The cost of one set of cars is UAH 1.2 million.
