Large companies in Norway announced a boycott of Oreo and Milka manufacturers

Representatives of the American company Mondelez International, which produces confectionery products, will meet with representatives of the Norwegian government to protect its business in the country. Earlier, large Scandinavian companies began to refuse Mondelez products due to the fact that the corporation did not leave the Russian market. This was reported by the Reuters agency.

Scandinavian Airlines and Norwegian Air, SJ railway group, Strawberry hotel chain, Elkjop retail chain, shipping operator Fjord Line and the Norwegian Football Association are among those who announced the cessation of sales of Mondelez products. As Reuters notes, the corporation has a large business in Sweden and Norway, where it produces Freia and Marabou chocolates through local companies.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway announced on Monday that it plans to meet with representatives of Mondelez and Norwegian companies participating in the boycott. At the same time, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Erling Rimestad added that “companies and private individuals must make an independent choice regarding what to buy and with whom to trade.”

The companies said that they decided to stop selling Mondelez products due to the inclusion of the corporation in the list of international sponsors of war, which is maintained by the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption of Ukraine.

Mondelez stated that it does not sell Russian-made products in Norway, supports “limited” activity in Russia and condemned the war.
