Leila Gireeva, who ran away from domestic violence, returned to her family

18-year-old Leyla Gireeva, a resident of Ingushetia, who fled domestic violence in St. Petersburg in the fall, returned to her family. Relatives continue to accuse her of theft, which she denies, Kavkaz.Realii writes.

Journalist and founder of the human rights project “Marem” Svetlana Anokhina wrote about Gireeva’s return to her relatives on her Instagram. According to Anokhina, it was Gireeva’s own choice, “like running away from the same parents.”

Leyla Gireeva herself left a comment under this publication, which has now been deleted, but the “Sota” edition managed to copy its content: “There was a lot of misunderstanding between me and my parents. We discussed it. They apologized. But something is confusing about the theft and the statement strange. They ask me if it will suggest that I really stole, they say, you were hypnotized, you have lapses in memory, although I am sure that I did not take these things… And on the subject of violence, too. “They did not beat you, you, They said that I need to undergo a forensic medical examination, and if they find me insane, then the case will be closed.”

The crisis group “SK SOS” contacted Gireeva directly. In the conversation, the girl confirmed that she decided to return, as she understood that the conflict with her relatives and the criminal case would not allow her to live peacefully. She met her relatives in St. Petersburg of her own free will, contacted her father and asked to pick her up. Gireeva also clarified that due to the criminal case of theft, she is under a restraining order.

• 18-year-old Leila Gireeva from the Nazranovsky district of Ingushetia secretly left home on November 14 and went to St. Petersburg with the help of human rights activists. Gireeva’s relatives threatened her with extensive connections in power structures. A few days later, the girl was wanted on charges of theft.
• On November 23, Gireeva reported that her relatives are trying to break into her apartment in St. Petersburg in order to return her home. She released the police, they took her to the department. Gireeva was detained by the police for several hours, waiting for the arrival of the Ingush Ministry of Internal Affairs to take her home, but was released closer to midnight.
• On December 1, Gireeva applied to the police with a complaint about systematic violence in the family, on December 16, the Ingushetia prosecutor’s office began an investigation based on Gireeva’s application for special control.
• In January, the police in the Nazranovsky district of Ingushetia refused to initiate a criminal case of domestic violence against Leyla Gireeva. Also, the court of the Nazranovsky district refused Gireeva’s lawyer to satisfy the previously filed complaint to initiate a theft case against Gireeva. The complaint noted violations during the initiation of the case and a possible corruption component – Gireeva’s relatives are connected to power structures.
