On Sakhalin, anyone who did not want to go to the military front was given a conditional order

The Garrison Military Court of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk sentenced a serviceman who voluntarily left his place of service twice in order not to get involved in the war in Ukraine to three years in prison. This was reported by the press service of the court.

According to the case file, Rushkov, while on a business trip, decided to rest and “temporarily refrain from military service and sending to the front in Ukraine. On July 4, he voluntarily left his place of service – the temporary detention center of the Western Military District. After that, he lived in Yuzhno- On September 10, the police found him, and on the same day his immediate superior took him to a military unit.

Already two days later, on September 12, the soldier did not show up at the military unit again. A month later, he himself came to the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk military command post.

The court sentenced Rushkov to three years of probation with a two-year probationary period. At the same time, the court took into account mitigating circumstances, as well as the desire of the serviceman to “continue participation in a special military operation” (this is how the Russian authorities call the war against Ukraine).

A similar case occurred in Abakan. There, the corporal was absent from May to September 2022. The Garrison Military Court sentenced Kan-Demir Delykei to one hour of conditional imprisonment.

• In September of last year, the Russian authorities tightened the punishment for the arbitrary abandonment of military units or places of service, introducing the concepts of “mobilization” and “martial position” into the relevant legislation. Since then, hundreds of criminal cases have been instituted against Russian servicemen – both those who evaded the call for the so-called “partial mobilization” and those who refused to take part in hostilities on the territory of Ukraine – for which dozens of sentences have already been issued.

• On January 18, private Belek Oorzhak, who voluntarily left his post in the so-called “Luhansk People’s Republic”, was sentenced to 2.5 years of conditional imprisonment with a probationary period of two years.
• At the end of December, the Yuzhno-Sakhalin Garrison Military Court sentenced the serviceman to three years in a colony-settlement. He escaped from the location of a military unit in the Belgorod region to avoid being sent to war with Ukraine.
