Loss of 177 million: NABU handed over three suspicions due to the scheme on “Centrenergo”

On Thursday, two expositors of the state-owned Centerenergo and the head of United Energy, a company linked to Igor Kolomoisky, were suspected of causing damage to Centerenergo in the amount of UAH 176 million.

According to the investigation, in 2020, based on the results of the auction, Centernergo concluded an agreement on the sale of electricity to United Energy LLC. This company connect with Ihor Kolomoiskyi.
In the end, the company did not collect the electricity contracted under these agreements, and therefore had to pay a fine. However, the company decided to avoid this and “retrospectively” concluded additional agreements. They excluded from the main agreements the provisions on the permissible limits of deviation from the volumes of electricity consumption.
Such changes allowed the aforementioned “United Energy” to select any amount of electricity, despite the fact that the selection of the contractual amount of electricity should have been guaranteed by the terms of the auctions. As a result of these actions, according to the investigation, Centernergo did not receive UAH 176.8 million.
On Thursday, May 4, NABU and the Specialized Anti-corruption Prosecutor’s Office notified three persons of suspicion of causing more than UAH 176.8 million in damages to the state energy producer. Suspicions were received by an ex-member of the “Centrenergo” Directorate (according to Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 364, Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code), the former head of the “Centrenergo” Department (according to Part 5 of Article 27 Part 2, Article 28, Part 2, Article 364, Part 5, Article 27, Part 2, Article 28, Part 1, Article 366 of the Criminal Code) and the head of United Energy (under Part 5, Article 27, Part 2 Article 28, Part 2, Article 364, Part 2, Article 28, Part 1, Article 366 of the Criminal Code).
It is alleged that the whereabouts of the former officials of “Centrenergo” have not been established, they were informed of the suspicion in accordance with Art. 135 (on the procedure for summons in criminal proceedings), Art. 278 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine (delivery of a written notice of suspicion).
