The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine sent a note to its Polish colleagues in connection with the protest action of Polish carriers, who blocked the movement of trucks through the largest checkpoint “Dorogusk-Yagodin” since May 4.
Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure, Serhiy Derkach, reported this, writes “Evropeyska Pravda” with reference to “Interfax-Ukraine” agency.
“The complaints and demands put forward by Polish carriers are not relevant. We work on equal and parity terms with Polish carriers, so we see no reason to block the checkpoint,” he said.
According to the Deputy Minister, for his part, the Deputy Prime Minister, the head of the Ministry of Rehabilitation Oleksandr Kubrakov prepared a letter to the Minister of Infrastructure of Poland Andrzej Adamczyk.
As Derkach pointed out, the electronic queue at the checkpoint before the start of the protest consisted of 3,300 vehicles that were supposed to cross the border in five days.
Currently, the queue is shortening due to the fact that Ukrainian carriers are forced to go to other checkpoints.
He added that it is not yet known how the issue with the “Dorogusk-Yagodin” joint venture will be resolved in the near future.
According to Ukrtransbezpeka data, as of May 5, there were 2,782 cars in the general queue at the checkpoint, 454 in the queue for veterinary control.
Over the past day, 661 cars were able to leave Poland from the general queue, while none from the veterinary queue. The system provides an expected waiting time in the general queue of more than 5.5 days, in the veterinary queue – more than 12 days.
Protesting transporters from the Polish side demand the restoration of the permit system for Ukrainian transporters. In addition, they demand to ban the entry of Belarusian and Russian semi-trailers. The protest is registered until June 3.
We will remind you that Polish drivers blocked “Yagodin – Dorogusk” in September of last year as well, due to the fact that, as a result of facilitating the passage of Ukrainian carriers from the Polish side, queues formed. Checkpoint in April threatened to block Polish farmers against the grain crisis.
