Argentine football player Lionel Messi will play next season in Saudi Arabia in a “major” deal, AFP reported.
“Mass – the matter is over. Next season he will play in Saudi Arabia,” the source told AFP on condition of anonymity, without naming the club.
“The contract is exceptional. He is huge. We are only finalizing some small details,” the source added.
Messi’s current club, Paris Saint-Germain, noted that the player remains under contract until June 30.
A separate source in PSG noted that the club would have extended the contract earlier if they wanted to keep Lionel.
Last week, the 35-year-old World Cup winner was suspended by the PSG club for an unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia, where he is a tourism ambassador.
Messi spent two unsuccessful seasons in Paris after a glorious era in Barcelona, where he won four Champions Leagues and 10 La Liga titles. PSG did not come close to the cherished first victory in the Champions League, losing twice in the round of 16, even with an outstanding Argentine in the team.
