The Russian opposition politician Mikhail Khodorkovsky was again declared wanted because of a new criminal case – on the article about the so-called fakes about the army. Journalists of “Vorstka” drew attention to the card in the database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Previously, Khodorkovsky was wanted in connection with the criminal case initiated in 2015 for the murder of the mayor of Nefteyugansk, Vladimir Petukhov. This wanted card has now been removed from the database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the publication notes.
As “Vyorstka” writes with reference to the information certificate to the closed report of the Investigative Committee, in September 2023, a criminal case was opened against Khodorkovsky on the article about fakes. The Kremlin uses it to persecute anti-war activists and oppositionists.
The reason for the criminal case was a post in the English-language account of Khodorkovsky in the X social network (former Twitter), which now blocked, with a photograph of a document allegedly sent by Deputy Finance Minister Iryna Okladnykova to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko. The document stated that by mid-August 2022, 48,759 Russian soldiers had died in the war in Ukraine.
“The leaked letter of the Ministry of Finance of Russia states that as of August 28, 361.4 billion rubles have been paid to the families of the dead. For each dead soldier, 7.4 million rubles. This gives a total of 48,759 confirmed dead. Missing and soldiers of the DNR+ LPR are not taken into account,” Khodorkovsky commented on the photo. The authenticity of the document has not been confirmed.
