The Moscow City Court arrested Pussy Riot participant Nadezhda Tolokonnikova in absentia on a charge of insulting the feelings of believers. This is reported by “Interfax” with reference to the press service of the court.

On November 1, the Babushkinsky Court of Moscow refused to arrest Tolokonnikova in absentia, after which the prosecutor’s office appealed this decision. As a result, the Moscow City Court overturned the decision of the Babushkin court and arrested the Pussy Riot participant in absentia.

It became known in March that a criminal case had been opened against Tolokonnikova. The reason was publications in social networks, but what exactly, it is unknown.

Tolokonnikova lives abroad.

  • In August 2012, Tolokonnikova and two other members of Pussy Riot – Maria Alekhina and Ekaterina Samutsevich – were sentenced to two years in prison in the case of a “punk prayer” in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.

In 2012, Tolokonnikova, Alyokhina, and Samutsevich were convicted of hooliganism for an action in the Orthodox Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow. Then several members of the group in balaclavas imitated a musical performance in the church, the song “The Mother of God, Run Putin away” was superimposed on the video recording.
